Programmes conducted by the
Kerala State Science and Technology Museum

•    Science Theories: A lecture was delivered by Dr.Pawan K Dhar, Senior Scientist & Lab Head, Synthetic Biology, RIKEN, Yokohama, Japan (Editor-in-Chief, Systems and Synthetic Biology Journal, Springer) for the students followed by interactive session.

•    Science Voyage: The students attended the 97th Indian Science Congress held at Thiruvananthapuram. The programme included meeting with the former Chairman of ISRO, Dr.G Madhavan Nair, attending sessions of Children’s Science Congress, visit to Space Museum of VSSC and Rocket launching site etc. In connection with the annular solar eclipse on 15-01-2010 a seminar was arranged on 12th and 13th of January 2010 .The students attended the programme in which experts from India and abroad delivered lectures.

•    Science Theories: The renowned Nobel Laureate Dr.Zhores Alferov (Physics 2000) delivered a lecture for the students and interacted with them at Cochin university of Science and Technology on 14th January 2010. Zhores I Alferov was a Scholar-in – Residence in CUSAT as part of ‘The Erudite’ programme of Government of Kerala  form 4 – 14 January 2010.

•    Advanced Science Inculcation programme : An Advanced Science Inculcation programme was arranged at Kerala State Science and Technology Museum from 13th  to 15th of February 2010.Dr.Anuj Sinha, Director, Vigyan Prasar,Govt.of India, Dr.V. P Sudeep Kumar, Engineer, BSNL, Dr. Ajay Ghosh, Scientist, National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST), Dr.V Biju, Department of Physics University of Kerala, Sri N. K Rameshan, Teacher in Mathematics, R G M H S Mokeri etc. took class for the students.  There were classes on night sky observations through the 11” Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope.

•    Science Voyage: The students visited the Tropical Botanical Garden and Research Institute, Palode and had a guided tour and lecture demonstration on Tissue Culture.
