• University of Kerala They conducted activities in Basic Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. Each activity is evaluated to assess the student’s comprehensive capacity, aptitude for science, analytical and logical thinking capacity. Activity linked evaluation in biology included Demonstration, puzzle and spot test. In Mathematics there were lectures on creative thinking, demonstration of mathemagic and quiz involving logical reasoning. In Chemistry, to assess comprehension, creativity, aptitude and ability to think logically included audio visual presentations, demonstration of chemical experiments, objective test etc.were included. In Physics, PowerPoint presentations on physical reality, laboratory session on measurements followed by discussion session and question answer session were included.• MG university Projects and demonstrations in Physics (Basic Properties of Light and Fibre Optical Communication, Magnetism and applications,How do we see through our own eyes, Earth and Earthquakes, Conservation of Energy, Metals and Non-Metals) were included. The main topics covered in mathematics included Alternate Number System and Fibonacci series. In chemistry Acid –Base indicators, Artificial Fire, Water boil without heating and Chemistry in daily life were some to mention. Biology included topics like Human Blood, Blood smear etc.• CUSAT • Calicut University Departments of Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Mathematics conducted programs on Making of Galileo Telescope, Optical Fibre communication, Discussion and Interaction with faculty, Acid-Base reactions, Perfumes from plants-steam distillation ,Plant pigment separation by Chromatography, Cell division, Cyclosis, Identification of meiotic stages ,Polytene chromosomes, blood cell counting, observation of arthropod pests, the historical, astronomical & computational aspects of calendar. • Kannur University The three days Programme were divided into six sessions under six resource persons. The subjects included Basic Bio –Sciences, Basic Physical Sciences, Material Sciences, Agricultural Sciences/Farming, Enviroment/Enviromental Problems, Science and Industry. During this, lecture/demonstration, Tutorials/Interactive session, Use of Library and other learning resources, field visit were held. In the final phase 62 students were selected. Fifty percent of the total strength is girl students. Fifty percent students are from rural schools. They were given opportunity to interact with eminent scholars in the field of Science. They were given opportunity to visit major research institutions within India. |
